Juicy Stuffed Cheeseburger with Caramelized Onions 🍔✨
Ingredients:
For the burger patties:
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
For the stuffing:
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp cream cheese, softened
- 1 tbsp diced jalapeños or pickles (optional, for a kick)
For the caramelized onions:
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp sugar
- Pinch of salt
For assembly:
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- Lettuce leaves
- Tomato slices
- Pickles
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo, etc.)
Instructions:
Prepare the caramelized onions:
- Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the onions, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for about 20-25 minutes until golden and caramelized. Set aside.
Make the cheese stuffing:
- In a small bowl, mix shredded cheddar, cream cheese, and jalapeños or pickles (if using). Form into four small disks and set aside.
Prepare the burger patties:
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently until combined.
- Divide the meat into 8 equal portions and flatten each portion into thin patties.
Stuff the burgers:
- Place a cheese disk in the center of one patty. Top with another patty, sealing the edges tightly to encase the cheese completely. Repeat with remaining patties.
Cook the burgers:
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through and the cheese inside is melted. Avoid pressing down on the burgers to retain juiciness.
Assemble the burgers:
- Spread your preferred condiments on the toasted buns.
- Layer with lettuce, tomato slices, the cooked burger patty, caramelized onions, and pickles. Top with the bun.
Serve:
- Serve hot with fries, a side salad, or onion rings for the perfect meal.
Optional Variations:
- Bacon Lover’s Twist: Add crispy bacon slices to the burger.
- Spicy Kick: Use pepper jack cheese for the stuffing and add sriracha mayo as a condiment.
- Vegetarian Option: Substitute the beef with a plant-based patty and stuff with vegan cheese.
