New Recipe: Spicy Garlic Shrimp & Chorizo Tapas 🦐🌶️✨
Ingredients:
For the tapas base:
- 200g large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 150g Spanish chorizo, sliced into thin rounds
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp red chili flakes (adjust to taste)
- Juice of 1 lemon
For garnish:
- Fresh parsley, chopped
- Lemon wedges
- Crusty bread slices for serving
Instructions:
Prepare the shrimp and chorizo:
- Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt.
Cook the chorizo:
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chorizo slices and cook for 2-3 minutes until browned and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.
Sauté the garlic and spices:
- Add the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil to the same skillet. Toss in the sliced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant (do not let it burn).
- Add smoked paprika and chili flakes, stirring quickly to combine.
Cook the shrimp:
- Add the shrimp to the skillet, stirring to coat in the garlic and spices. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.
Combine and flavor:
- Return the crispy chorizo to the skillet. Stir in the lemon juice and cook for an additional minute to combine flavors.
Garnish and serve:
- Transfer the shrimp and chorizo mixture to a serving dish. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with lemon wedges and crusty bread slices for dipping.
Optional Variations:
- Add a splash of dry white wine or sherry for extra depth.
- Substitute shrimp with squid rings or scallops for a seafood variation.
- For a vegetarian option, replace chorizo with roasted red peppers and mushrooms.
