New Recipe: Chocolate-Stuffed Churros with Cinnamon Sugar 🍫✨
Ingredients:
For the churros:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
For the filling:
- 100g dark chocolate, finely chopped
- ¼ cup heavy cream
For frying:
- Vegetable oil, for deep frying
For the coating:
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
For dipping (optional):
- Chocolate sauce or caramel sauce
Instructions:
Prepare the filling:
- Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan until steaming but not boiling.
- Pour over chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Let sit for 1 minute, then stir until smooth.
- Transfer the chocolate mixture to a piping bag and refrigerate until firm enough to pipe, about 30 minutes.
Make the churro dough:
- In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in flour all at once. Mix vigorously until the dough forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and let cool slightly. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth and glossy.
Prepare for frying:
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 190°C (375°F).
Pipe and fry:
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 6-inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil, cutting with scissors. Fry 2-3 churros at a time, turning occasionally, until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Coat the churros:
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow dish. Roll the warm churros in the mixture to coat evenly.
Stuff the churros:
- Once the churros are cool enough to handle, use a chopstick or skewer to create a hollow center. Pipe the chocolate filling into each churro.
Serve:
- Serve warm with optional chocolate or caramel dipping sauce.
Optional Variations:
- Replace the chocolate filling with dulce de leche or Nutella.
- Add orange zest or espresso powder to the chocolate filling for a unique flavor twist.
- Make mini churros for bite-sized treats.
