New Recipe: Cheddar and Chive Yorkshire Pudding 🧀🌱✨
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 large eggs
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh chives, finely chopped
- 3-4 tbsp beef dripping, duck fat, or vegetable oil
Instructions:
Prepare the batter:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center and crack in the eggs. Gradually whisk the eggs into the flour, forming a thick paste.
- Slowly add the milk while whisking continuously to create a smooth batter.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped chives. Cover and let the batter rest at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Place a muffin tin or Yorkshire pudding tin in the oven to heat.
Add the fat:
- Add about 1 tsp of beef dripping, duck fat, or vegetable oil to each well of the hot tin. Return the tin to the oven for 5 minutes, until the fat is very hot and shimmering.
Pour the batter:
- Carefully remove the tin from the oven and quickly pour the batter into each well, filling them about halfway. The hot fat should sizzle as the batter is added.
Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the puddings are puffed up, golden brown, and crisp. Avoid opening the oven door during baking to ensure they rise properly.
Serve:
- Serve immediately with roast meats, gravy, or as a standalone appetizer.
Optional Variations:
- Swap cheddar for blue cheese or Gruyère for a gourmet twist.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or smoked paprika for a subtle kick.
- Serve with a dollop of crème fraîche or sour cream for extra indulgence.
