Korean-Style Loaded Hot Dog
🌭

Ingredients:

  • For the hot dogs:

    • 4 beef or pork hot dog sausages
    • 4 hot dog buns, toasted
  • For the toppings:

    • 1 cup kimchi, finely chopped
    • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
    • 1 tbsp mayonnaise
    • 1 tsp honey
    • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
    • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the hot dogs:

    • Grill: Preheat your grill to medium heat. Grill the sausages for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until heated through and slightly charred.
    • Stovetop: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the sausages, turning occasionally, for about 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the buns:

    • Lightly toast the hot dog buns on the grill or under the broiler for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  3. Prepare the toppings:

    • In a small bowl, mix gochujang, mayonnaise, and honey to create a spicy-sweet sauce.
    • Heat the chopped kimchi in a skillet for 2-3 minutes until warm.
  4. Assemble the hot dogs:

    • Place a cooked sausage in each toasted bun.
    • Spoon the warmed kimchi over the sausage.
    • Drizzle the gochujang-mayo sauce on top.
    • Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese and lightly broil for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese (optional).
    • Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
  5. Serve:

    • Serve immediately with a side of crispy fries or a simple salad.

Optional Variations:

  • Extra Crunch: Add crispy fried onions or potato sticks for texture.
  • Vegetarian Option: Use plant-based sausages and vegan cheese.
  • Spicy Boost: Add sliced jalapeños or a drizzle of sriracha for more heat.
